Central State Men’s Golf Continues Strong Show at SIAC Championships

Tunica Springs, Alabama:

In just the second year of the program, Central State University Athletics Men's Golf continues to make significant strides, showcasing measurable improvement at the 2026 SIAC Men's Golf Championships.

The Marauders finished 5th overall with a team score of 972 (+108), a dramatic leap forward from the 2025 championships where Central State placed 6th with a 1050 (+186). The 78-stroke improvement year-over-year highlights the rapid development and upward trajectory of a young program building a competitive foundation in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Central State's consistency across all three rounds (326-322-324) proved to be a key factor in their climb up the leaderboard, as the Marauders outpaced Savannah State and LeMoyne-Owen while closing the gap on the conference's top programs.

Individually, the Marauders were led by Christian Collins, who turned in an impressive performance to finish T-11 overall (+13, 229)—placing him among the conference's top competitors. Collins' steady rounds of 76-76-77 demonstrated poise and consistency against a strong field.

Corey Lynn Patton Jr. also delivered a solid showing, finishing 20th (+21, 237), while Felipe GuidoMichael Halleg, and Joshua Fiery rounded out the Marauders' lineup, each contributing valuable experience and depth to the growing program.

The 2026 championship field was highly competitive, with Miles College taking the team title, followed by Spring Hill and Morehouse. Despite the strength of the conference, Central State's improvement was one of the most notable storylines of the tournament.

From a 186-over team finish a year ago to 108-over this season, the Marauders have taken a major step forward—proof that the foundation is being built for sustained success. With continued development and experience, Central State Men's Golf is positioning itself to climb even higher in the SIAC standings in the years to come.

The rise of Marauder Golf is well underway.
